Injustice 3 – the supposed finale of the Injustice trilogy will reportedly feature two story modes and will be developer Netherrealm’s first offering for the next generation of consoles. The cast of characters are said to include John Constantine, Huntress, Penguin, Etrigan, Killer Croc, Zatanna, Doctor Manhattan and – surprisingly – Neo, Keanu Reeves’ character from The Matrix series. This may serve as a cross-promotion, as a fourth Matrix film is currently in the works with Reeves set to reprise his role. A Tournament mode similar to Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat League is also being planned, and it will reportedly be called Infinite Crisis. Nekron, the primary antagonist of the ‘Blackest Night’ storyline, will reportedly serve as the game’s villain. Injustice 3's release window is being eyed for 2022. Whatever the case may be with these rumors, it’s still important to take everything with a grain of salt until confirmed.+ 2 The Injustice Animated Movie has also helped reignite interest in the series. NetherRealm Studios is yet to formally announce the game, but that's not to say it's not being talked about. In an interview with Gamespot back in April, Creative Director Ed Boon noted that the team is working on something secret. It's hard to tell the timing because we don't have a launch date that we've picked for our next game, and there are so many factors involved with the transition to the next consoles. What Platforms Will Injustice 3 Release On?Īs per that quote, it would be fair to assume that the game is likely to be next-gen only if it does come out. That, combined with his Deadpool-levels of absurdity, would make him a perfect pick in a game that relishes its comedic fight intros. We'd also expect it to come to PC, although Nintendo Switch is anyone's guess. So, aside from sticking to a ketchup and mustard color scheme, NetherRealm's animators are only limited by their imagination when it comes to what Plastic Man can throw at his opponents. Plastic Man's super-elastic powers enable him to morph into any form he can imagine with only two strict limitations: he cannot create holes in his body, and he cannot change his color pallet. Much like Beast Boy, Plastic Man has the potential to bring a vast array of transformation-based attacks that could add some much needed visual variety to a series that stubbornly sticks to NetherRealm's stiff style of animation. He got his fair share of limelight in several chapters of the Injustice comic series, and yet the elastic wacko, Eel O'Brien, has yet to be playable. Despite his relative lack of notoriety compared to A-listers like Batman, Plastic Man has already received some attention from NetherRealm. One of DC's somewhat less-famous stars, Plastic Man, also offers a lot of potential gameplay variety. Luckily, the DC multiverse is a near-boundless source of unique characters ripe for a new video game adaption. However, a new Injustice game opens the way for many new opportunities, and when it comes to fighting games very few things are as important as the roster. All of the most-well known figures from DC Comics, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash, are playable, but there are also less famous character like Black Adam, Captain Cold, and Atrocitus that many players who aren't invested in the DC universe may not recognize. So far, NetherRealm Studios' Injustice franchise has done a fairly thorough job at giving both seminal and smaller heroes their time to shine in the series. Naturally, one would expect a third entry in the Injustice franchise to follow along a new series of comics, and the possibility of a new fighting game opens the way for speculation on a brand-new Injustice roster. Recently, the writer of the Injustice spin-off comics, Tom Taylor, teased a possible continuation of the Injustice series on Twitter.
